Mobility
Many injury problems can be traced back to poor mobility or motor functions. To the right you'll find links to different videos that will help you diagnose some of your weaknesses, and hopefully allow you to become a more natural and free moving athlete. The videos on the following pages come from Dr. Kelly Starrett (above), founder of CrossFit San Francisco, and author of the book Becoming a Supple Leopard. He knows what he's talking about, so use his knowledge to help yourself become more mobile.
The linked are divided into two main categories: Joints (capsules) and; Soft Tissue. Joints, or capsules, are mobility exercises to help you if you're struggling to perform an exercise or movement (example: Squat) correctly. Soft tissue refers to muscle tissue. So if you're really sore after an intense workout, check out the soft tissue pages.
You may find that you have a problem area in your body, and as you begin correcting that area, a problem develops in an entirely different area -THAT'S NORMAL. If this occurs you are doing a good job of learning about your body and how to correct your problem areas. When performing any of these mobility or soft tissue exercises it is important to use correct form. Please consult with Mrs. Burson before trying these movement on your own. |
